FAQ
-
How much does this cost? There is a one-time diagnostic testing fee of $100 for one subject and $150 for two subjects. We retest to measure improvement after every 40 hours of instruction. Monthly tuition is determined by the student's needs and schedule as well as by the method of payment you choose. Tutition ranges from $36 - $40 an hour, depending on what payment option the client chooses at the time of testing and consulation.
-
Do I have to sign a contract?Absolutely not! We will give you an estimate of how long your child needs to attend in order to meet your goals. If, for any reason, you decide to stop attending, we just ask that you let us know in advance for scheduling purposes.
-
How quickly can I expect to see improvement in my child's grades? We can give you a more accurate estimate of that after we test your child. We know from past experience, working with hundreds of children, that a child will improve at least one grade level on standardized testing after 40 hours of instruction. For example, if the child that tested one year below grade level in reading attends two hours of tutoring per week, it would take five months to get to grade level. If they attended three hours per week, it would take three months. Grades go up as skill levels increase. Often we hear that enthusiasm and desire to learn increase almost overnight!
-
What happens during an hour of instruction? Each child arrives and is greeted by his/her teacher. There will be one or two other students working wit the teacher but no two students are working on the same program. The teacher is reading from a lesson plan for each student and guides them through a series of lessons specifically chosen for them. A student usually completes between five and seven activities during an hour. Each task is introduced by their teacher and then graded when it is completed. The teacher reviews any errors with the student so that they may receive immediate feedback. Scores are recorded so that we can keep an accurate record of exactly how well a student is doing on an hour-by-hour basis. Throughout the lesson, the student is rewarded with tokens that can be spent on prizes in the center's store! Our environment is positive, upbeat, fun and encouraging!

How do you keep kids from getting bored? From the moment a child walks through the door until the moment they leave, the environment and teacher engagement of Learning2 at the Ranch is orchestrated to hold the interest of the student. All of our teachers have been trained to be encouraging and motivational in everything they say to their students. In addition, we use a reward system that appeals to every age to encourage them to work as hard as possible.
-
What kind of training do your teachers have and who are they?We use certified teachers and college education majors. All of our teachers have been through a thorough background screening. We train every teacher that works for us in our methods of instruction and motivation and our philosophy before they are ever allowed to work with our students.

My child had a tutor last year and their grades never improved. What makes Learning2 at the Ranch any more effective? Our methods are very different than a traditional tutor. First, we test background skills to identify WHY your child needs help. Then we design a program specifically for them. We aren't helping them do their homework, we are reteaching weak and missing skills that prevent them from excelling in school. Think of it as a jigsaw puzzle with only some of the pieces. Find the pieces, fill them in, and you have a complete picture!
