Reading
Our Reading Program is based on solid and scientific research, best practices in education and common sense. Our reading teachers use a systematic, age and grade appropriate approach that ultimately fosters reading independence and confidence. All the components of the Learning Squared program lead to the ultimate goal of reading for understanding and retention.
Learning Squared teachers are skilled in our program and methods which are based on the findings of the National Reading Panel and serve as the backbone of our curriculum. The basic fundamentals of the reading program are:

Math
Our Math Program helps students reduce math anxiety, master math concepts and build a deep understanding of math fundamentals that serve as a foundation for learning more advanced concepts.
Our math instruction takes a stair step approach. From our diagnostic testing, we are able to identify exactly what skills are weak and missing and exactly what grade level they occurred in. This makes our approach logical and systematic.

Most students have mastered some concepts in each of these areas but it's the little bits of missing or misunderstood information that can cause the frustration. That's why we test to discover where the skill gaps are and fill them in first. (Typically, a traditional tutoring program might miss this step.) Once the gaps have been mastered, the real fun can begin. Our math instruction is based on the Principles and Standards of School Mathematics, developed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Writing
Our Writing Program is designed to ensure that your child has the solid, grade appropriate skills necessary to communicate effectively on paper. Today, more than ever, strong writing skills are critical to academic success. State proficiency tests, as well as college admission exams, require that students demonstrate mastery of the written word. Students, at every level, learn to express thoughts clearly and develop skills in sentence structure, paragraph development, grammar and writing mechanics.
Our trained teachers instruct their students in the writing process and guide them through the following skills during the process:

Study Skills
Our Study Skills Program can make a dramatic difference in your child's school performance. This program is appropriate for students from 5th grade through 12th grade. We address your child's individual learning style and show them more effective ways to approach homework, tests, and projects using this knowledge. Your student will gain confidence in their ability to master material and learn to work more efficiently.

Algebra
Our Algebra Program will alleviate the dread and frustration many kids feel about this subject. Nothing puts the spotlight on a weak math background like a student's first year of Algebra. We use a skills assessment to see where the problems started and exactly what they are. This way, we avoid time spent going over "already mastered" skills and get right to the pertinent issues.
We have found that if we can fill in the missing pieces from lower grade levels, the current advanced concepts will start to make sense. While most tutors might teach for the test (and sometimes that has to be a priority), we are ultimately committed to determining the underlying problem and fixing it. After all, what good is it to memorize a few concepts for tomorrow's test only to forget them by the next week's exam? This won't be the last advanced math class required of your child and the sooner they have the solid background to do this on their own, the better.
